Just 30 minutes north of Pretoria, near the town of Cullinan, you will find the Seringveld Conservancy (chapter 49 in Birding Gauteng) a great location for roadside birding on dirt roads in an area offering protection to birds and wildlife. In March 2010 on my first visit to the conservancy I saw these birds (the water birds were all seen at the quarry near the nursery on the route):
